Hull-based Burton Roofing Merchants Ltd, the UK subsidiary of the Cupa Group, has acquired Rinus Roofing Supplies at an undisclosed price.
The deal strengthens Burton Roofing’s position as one of the largest independent roofing materials retailers in the UK.
Rinus, a family business founded in 2007, is the UK’s second largest independent distributor of roofing products. The company had sales of £ 57 million in 2019, employs 184 people and has a portfolio of more than 2,600 customers.
The company has 24 offices nationwide and offers full product coverage for all roofing applications. Following the acquisition, the combined group will have sales of £ 140 million.
Burton Roofing was advised on the acquisition by a multidisciplinary team at Andrew Jackson Solicitors LLP led by Philip Ashworth (Corporate) and Geoff Phillips (Property).
They were supported by Nicole Waldron (Business), Yasmin Fenton (Property), Fiona Phillips (Tax), and Nick Wilson (Employment).
Corporate Partner Philip Ashworth said, “It has been a pleasure to support the Burton Roofing team in this important growth milestone.

Paul Hattee, Managing Director of Burton Roofing said: “We are pleased to have acquired Rinus, which has a strong track record and market position in the UK and is well positioned for further expansion and future growth.
“Burton Roofing will now operate 37 distribution centers across the UK and will become an increasingly important partner for the construction industry with total sales of approximately £ 120 million.
“We continue to enjoy legal advice from Philip and the rest of the team at Andrew Jackson.
