Two independent solar companies have formed a strategic alliance to better position both companies for the future growth of solar systems for residential and commercial use.

Award-winning Boston Solar of Woburn, MA, a leading solar installer in the state, has formed a strategic alliance with SolarFlair of Ashland, MA.

Boston Solar and SolarFlair are both committed to solar energy and enjoy significant recognition and success in the solar field. SolarFlair Energy was founded in 2007 and has developed and built several thousand solar projects for private households and businesses. Solar systems with a capacity of over 25 megawatts (MW) have been installed across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Notable installations include the Perkins School for the Blind, Saxonville Mills, the Suburban Athletic Club, and numerous solar parks.

Boston Solar markets, designs, and installs residential and commercial solar, energy storage, and EV chargers throughout Massachusetts. The company has installed more than 30MW of solar panels since its inception in 2011 and has powered thousands of homes in Bay State. Commercial solar systems include All Creatures Veterinary Hospital, Woburn Boys and Girls Club, Prestige Way LLC, Subest Trust, and Greendale Folk Church.

SolarFlair Energy will use its installation skills and experience as a trusted partner and installer for Boston Solar. SolarFlair recently changed its business model to focus solely on commercial and residential installations. They are ideally positioned to help Boston Solar meet its installation needs.

Director of Commercial Operations

As part of this unique alliance, Jeff Constantine, a solar industry pioneer who leads SolarFlair Energy, will assume an additional role as director of commercial operations for Boston Solar. He will oversee the commercial side of Boston Solar.

“Between our continued growth in the residential sector, the increasing need for solar installers and our focus on commercial expansion, the Boston Solar alliance with SolarFlair positions our two companies for long-term success,” said Daniel Mello Guimaraes, CEO of Boston Solar.

“With SolarFlair’s focus on service and installation, and the growth of Boston Solar, this alliance enables two industry leaders to pool their efforts and provide expert service to the solar PV industry,” said Constantine.

With a construction and business career spanning more than 35 years, Constantine became the owner and president of SolarFlair Energy in 2018. Prior to his 11 years at SolarFlair, Constantine owned his own electrical engineering company. He holds an electrical engineering master’s license, a construction manager license and a home improvement builder license (CSL) in Massachusetts, and a builder license in Rhode Island.

On the horizon of the sun

Mello Guimaraes said, “Massachusetts has one of the strongest solar incentive programs in the country. In 2021, the Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) will be introduced, which will allow commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) customers to claim a significant percentage of their total solar installation costs their federal tax liability has expired. Fortunately, the ITC has been renewed and will remain at 26 percent for the next two years, which benefits everyone for solar. ”
