Rochdale News | Headlines | Generous window manufacturer replaces the windows of the Whitworth Lighthouse free of charge

Release date: March 01, 2021

Daniel Spilling stepped forward and replaced both windows free of charge

A Whitworth window and door fitter refused to take payment after exchanging two windows at The Lighthouse Community Foodshare.

After the glazing failed in the windows, Daniel Spilling of The Window & Door Outlet stepped forward and replaced both windows free of charge.

Daniel, who started the company about two years ago, said, “I know what it’s like to grow up and have no food on the table. I relied on friends and relatives from time to time to help me, so I figured I would do what I thought was right and help them.

“This is not the best time for anyone right now and I will do everything I can to help anyone who needs it.”

Daniel replaced both windows for free.

Marilyn Jones of the Lighthouse said, “Not only did Daniel make this generous offer, he actually replaced both entire windows completely free of charge. Daniel spent all day working on the lighthouse refusing to take a penny for the cost of the windows.

“We are so lucky to have such generous and caring members of our local community ready to help, and that gesture meant the world to us.

“Thank you, Daniel.”

Located at 551-552 Market Street, the lighthouse is a partnership between longtime Rochdale Soup Kitchen and Whitworth Methodist Church that enables locals to get grocery packages with all the basics they need to feed their families
