Montclair, NJ – The Mayor and Local Council invite income eligible Montclair homeowners to apply for the community’s new home improvement program. Eligible homeowners can receive up to $ 24,000 for home repairs.

If you are a Montclair homeowner and your home needs to be repaired or replaced, e.g. B. roof, electricity, heating, plumbing, windows, etc., you may be able to receive funding from the Montclair home improvement program.
The Home Improvement Program was launched to help eligible low and middle income households repair or replace critical home systems (such as roof or heating systems) to meet existing health, safety and substandard indoor and outdoor regulations correct.
The funds may only be used for work and repairs that are necessary to standardize the house code, save energy, eliminate health and / or safety risks. In order to qualify for participation in the program, at least one of the following critical systems must be replaced or fundamentally repaired:

The home needs to have at least one major system in need of repair or replacement.
If repairs or renovations are currently being carried out on your home by others or by yourself, or in the past few years that require or require a municipal permit, the work must be completed and permits completed before you can apply for the program .

The funds are made available as an interest-free loan with a term of ten years (0%).
There are no monthly payments and the loan is granted when the homeowner retains the property and occupancy for a period of 10 years. A professional inspector oversees the process.
