MITOOMA: Over Shs 200m Raised Towards Roofing of Ryakahimbi Parish Church

A total of over Shs 200m was on Sunday raised towards the roofing of Ryakahimbi Parish Ruhinda County in Mitooma District. This fundraising campaign was spearheaded by Mitooma District Woman Member of parliament Hon. Agasha Juliet Bashiisha.

The event was officiated at by Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Hon. Kahinda Otafiire, the area MP and Minister of Internal affairs.

In her speech read by Rubanda District Woman MP Prossy Akampurira, Anita Among, who was the guest of honour, lauded the Mitooma woman legislator for for being a pillar of unity by always mobilising fellow MPs to support God’s call.

Among contributed Shs 20m.

She tasked Christians to work hard and generate resources to enable them to contribute to such projects and improve on household income.

On her own behalf, Hon. Akampurira implored parents in Mitooma district on nurturing their children in order to raise responsible citizens in the country.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Juliet Agasha, the chief mobiliser of the event, commended her colleague MPs for the spirit of togetherness and honouring her invitation to build for the Lord.

She confirmed that a total of Shs200m had been collected during the fundraising toward the completion of Ryakahimbi church roofing.

She futher thanked the speaker together her Deputy Thomas Tayebwa and Commissionors for boosting the fundraising. She encouraged the parishioners to keep doing the work of God.

“Keep working to build the church because if you work for God, he also work for you,” Hon. Agasha said.

Former Mitooma Town Council LCV Councillor, Robert Nuwagira Kikwara, a christian, also a member of the construction committee, said that when completed, Ryakahimbi parish will have a sitting capacity of about 3,000 people, one of the largest churches in the district.

Ryakahimbi Parish is one of the youngest parishes in Mbarara Archdiocese having been founded in August 2016. The Construction of the Ryakahimbi Parish church kicked off in March 2019 at Ryakahimbi Hill in Mitooma Town Council Mitooma district.

The fundraising function was attended by Over 50 MPs including, Hon. Margret Ayebare, Mbarara woman MP, Hon. Kamukama Benjamin for Ruhaama East MP, Hon. Bazil Bataringaya Rwankene for Kashari North, Hon. Mugumya Claire, Isingiro District Woman MP, Hon. Kamateneti Josyline, Ntungamo District Woman MP, Hon. Dicksons Kateshumbwa for Sheema municipality, Hon. Tayebwa Herbert, Kashongi county MP among others.
