Late-Night Deck Fire Melts House Siding In Rockland

CLARKSTOWN, NY — An observant police officer noticed flames coming from the back of a house on Herald Court at 1:10 a.m. Sunday.

Clarkstown Police Officer T. Papenmeyer made his way up the driveway, radioed CPD dispatch to call out the fire department and reported that the family was leaving the house through the garage door, police said.

One of the residents said she had just woken up to an orange glow through a rear window, and alerted the other occupants, police said.
