Installing Bird Safe Windows at Gilsland Farm

Maine Audubon and our partners are continuing to spread the word about bird safe architecture through our BirdSafe Maine program. An essential part of that work involves displaying different bird safe window treatments, especially on the many windows of our Gilsland Farm headquarters in Falmouth, to show builders and homeowners what their options are.

In October, we took on our largest window yet. Thanks to a generous donation from Feather Friendly we were able to begin treating our large back patio panels with patterned markers that let birds know to avoid the glass. Feather Friendly is a leader in bird safe window treatments, and was the supplier for the recent retrofit undertaken by LL Bean at their new headquarters in Freeport.

We’re grateful to Feather Friendly for their support, and we look forward to continuing to display their products on our windows at Gilsland Farm and Fields Pond.
