Brooke Shields sells LA home for $7.4 million

Actress Brooke Shields and her screenwriter husband Chris Henchy have just sold their home in the Pacific Palisades for $7.4 million.

The property – that overlooks the Santa Monica Mountains – pays homage to traditional SoCal style through its chalet-style features and rustic interiors. With its prestigious postcode, Pacific views, and chic decor combined, Brooke Shields’ estate is one of the most fashionable estates in California – and one of the world’s best homes.

Brooke Shields discovered critical acclaim at age 12 for her role in Louis Malle’s film Pretty Baby. Since then, she has starred in The Blue Lagoon, Endless Love, and Sahara. Her screenwriter husband, Chris Henchy, is best known for the Land of the Lost and The Other Guys.

The couple lived in the home for 25 years (they purchased the home for $3.24 million). They have reportedly sold the estate to actor Sam Page (from The Bold Type).

The couple’s former home stretches across half an acre of California’s Riviera neighborhood. Its cabin-like façade exhibits an apt mountainous aesthetic – featuring a traditional front porch and a sprawling collection of trees that frame the door. However, whilst its exteriors are befitting for location, the home’s interiors are equally fitting.

This home is a maze of rustic-inspired interiors – many of which come to play in the 5,300 square foot living space. In this open-plan area, Brooke Shields’s experimented with a SoCal-style palette– seen through its neutral living room ideas and whitewashed wood-beam ceilings.

These white architectural features stand as a stark contrast between the dark hardwood flooring and the colors of the Canyon that surrounds the living space.

This contrast continues in the gourmet kitchen’s color ideas, where Brooke Shields chose white-fronted cabinetry and a marble-topped kitchen island to create a juxtaposition against the dark-hued chairs and floor.

This floor leads onto a wraparound terrace that boasts views across California’s mountains – and acts as the perfect entertaining space (beyond the large dining room, naturally).

Beyond the white-painted staircase, the upper level maintains a stylish cabin look with its subtle wooden-hued shell that acts as a canvas for patterned rugs and bold lighting ideas, seen primarily through the dangling chandelier.

This landing space and the master suite uses soft red furnishings to add a sense of warmth to the freshly-toned space. This bedroom is one of five bedrooms in the property – all of which pay homage to traditional Cali-cool decorating ideas.
