5 stocks to watch out for after recent analyst upgrades
The fourth quarter earnings season is well above the mid-term mark and the picture looks healthy so far, pointing to a gradual recovery in the macroeconomic scenario from crippling coronavirus issues. The latest article on earnings outlook shows that of the 333 S&P 500 companies that have already been announced, 80.8% achieved better than expected earnings per share.
In general, a company’s bottom line leads to an appreciation in its share price. With this in mind, investors want to add outperformers to their respective portfolios in order to generate healthy returns.
However, with a multitude of earnings reports inundating the market this reporting cycle, it is no easy task for individual investors to pinpoint just the winners. In the absence of proper guidance, identifying a promising stock is like finding a potential stakeholder like finding a needle in a haystack. Practical advice or advice in this regard will come from brokers who are considered experts and have extensive knowledge of the field of investing.
Of the three types of broker / analyst (sell-side, buy-side and independent) in the investment world, sell-side analysts are the most common. Whatever their type, brokers attend conference calls / presentations from the company and review all publicly available details before informing investors of their course of action (buy, sell or hold a stock). Given their know-how and deep understanding of stocks when it comes to investing, it’s a breeze for investors to look to broker advice to get the most out of their portfolios.
The story goes on
To help ensure earnings performance, we’ve developed a screen based on better analyst recommendations and estimates of estimates going north over the past four weeks.
Evaluate the top line
To design a winning strategy, it is not advisable to just consider the bottom line. In fact, according to some market watchers, a top-line outperformance for a stock is more believable than a bottom-line beat in certain circumstances. In order to fully substantiate the earnings strategy, the sales concerns must therefore also be taken into account. We considered value for money, which serves as a strong complementary valuation metric, for screening stocks.

Strong stocks that should be on the news
Many are little known and fly under Wall Street’s radar. They are practically unknown to the public. Today’s 220 zacks at number 1 “Strong Buys” were generated by the stock picking system, which more than doubled the market from 1988 to 2016. His average profit was an outstanding + 25% per year.
